WARRANT OFFICER CANDIDATE SCHOOL (WOCS)
5 Week Regular Army Course
Conducted at Ft. Rucker, AL
5 Month IDT Period (MUTA 5)
2 Week Annual Training Period

at Ft. Leonard, MO
Those interested in becoming Warrant Officers are
appointed as candidates once determined technically
qualified by the Military Occupational Specialty (MOS) branch proponent.
Warrant Officer Candidate School (WOCS) is the next step. You can choose between a five-
week active component resident course hosted in Fort Rucker, Alabama, or a two-phase reserve
component course conducted by the Missouri Army National Guard for Soldiers in drill status,
one weekend a month, over a five-month period, with a culminating 15-day annual training phase
at Fort McClellan, Alabama.
Equivalency credit for WOCS may be granted for prior graduates of accredited military
academies, OCS, ROTC, or other uniformed service officer producing schools.
After completing WOCS, you appoint as a Warrant Officer One (WO1). Graduates are then sent
to their specific U.S. Army branch schools, where they receive more focused technical training in
their specialties.
WARRANT OFFICER EDUCATION SYSTEM (WOES)
Warrant Officer Basic Course (WOBC)
Provides branch specific Military Occupational Specialty (MOS) qualification. Is the final phase of
Initial Military Training for newly appointed warrant officers and prepares them for their initial
assignments as a WO1 and promotion to CW2.
Training length and location varies based on MOS.
Warrant Officer Advance Course (WOAC)
Prepares warrant officers for CW3 level positions for advanced level training in MOS specific
areas.
Training length and location varies based on MOS.
Warrant Officer Intermediate Level Education (WOILE)
Provides CW3 and CW4 warrant officers intermediate level education and influential leadership
skills.
Phase One: Distance Learning (MOS Immaterial)
Phase Two: 5 Week Resident Course (MOS Immaterial)
Follow on training conducted by many of the MOS branches. Location and duration varies.
Warrant Officer Intermediate Level Education (WOILE)
Provides CW4s and CW5s senior level education, knowledge, and influential leadership skills.
Phase One: Distance Learning (MOS Immaterial)
Phase Two: 4 Week Resident Course (MOS Immaterial)
Follow on training conducted by many of the MOS branches. Location and duration varies.
